Issues of Pronunciation while Teaching EFL in the Context of Saudi Arabia

Abstract

English is such kind of language that if it is not pronounced correctly, its meaning will be changed. And even sometimes meaning becomes opposite to the base word. So pronunciation is a very important issue while learning English. As Arabic speaking people, like other non-native English speakers, Saudi students are also facing some problems regarding accuracy in pronunciation. This study investigates the reasons of mispronunciation while learning English as a foreign language in real classroom situation as well as outside the classroom. It also emphasizes the role of teachers while teaching EFL in their classrooms and conveys some suggestions to them.
